Christmas Service
« on: December 23, 2019, 09:46:45 AM »
I have a good friend who is a former Chaplain who runs a ministry for motorcyclists. He has several services a year, the latest a Christmas service was yesterday. They are always held at a nearby park that has covered picnic areas.

I went to sleep the night before to a steady rain. Temps were in the upper 50s F. Woke to the same thing. I don't mind getting caught out in the rain and having to stop and don rain gear. It is another thing to ride out of a warm, dry garage into a steady rain.

I thought about just driving to the event but decided  that I ride a BMW and that riding in the rain is all part of it. I got kitted up for a wet ride, loaded a couple of boxes of homemade Christmas cookies in my panniers and rode out into the rain.

I got the strangest looks from the motorists out but rode the 20+ miles to the site. Imagine my surprise when I arrived and found a parking lot full of vehicles. There was just one other motorcycle, a V-twin. All of the "regulars" drove there.

I felt special and had an immediate kinship with the other rider. Had a great time and left feeling renewed back out in the rain.

Best of the holidays to everyone, whichever holidays you celebrate!
Keep your bike in good repair: motorcycle boots are not comfortable for walking.
