seat fitment
« on: January 08, 2019, 11:11:10 PM »
Hello,
I'm wondering if a 76 R100S seat will fit my 79 R65. Must be many threads here on seat fitment but I can't seem to find them.
Thanks!
Raphael

Sorry, it will not fit. The 76 R100 and the 79 R65 have different length subframes. Actually the seat may well fit on the hinges and mate up with the lock, but it will be absurdly long and you would have to remove the tail glovebox.

Thanks and bummer! I have been wanting to find a better looking and feeling seat for my R65 and there is a R100S Corbin seat with cowl and luggage rack on e bay with a buy it now of 160.00 bucks that looked good to me. I like the R100S rounded rear cowl behind the seat better then the wedge on the R65. Thanks for the info as I was tempted to just buy it and see if I could make it work.

Sorry to jump in, I've got another seat fitment question if anyone knows... how well does the R65LS seat fit on a standard R65 twinshock, 1984 model?

I've been offered a cheap one and the seat pan is way better than my worn and rusted out seat pan.  Plus the rounded cowling has hand grips for a pillion.

You will need the rear "cubbie" that goes with the LS seat.

Thanks Justin.  Don't suppose that you, or anyone reading this, has a spare R65LS "cubbie"?  :)

Looks nice.....buy it (tho' shipping to NZ may cost you more than the $10 price for the cubbie).

He is on the forum as "lamont". He posts infrequently and my use of "friend" was misleading. Several of the Texas folks know him personally and I have done a lot of business with him collecting spares should I ever need them.
