Southern Calif. Riders

Any Southern Calif. folks camp and fish?

I'm headed up to the Eastern Sierra for 3-4 days to chase some trout and camp. Probably around Bishop and possible the South Fork of the Kern River on the way back. Lots of Bear around the Kern so not too excited to spend the night on the ground in that area. I'm looking at a time right after the 4th as most of the loonies will be back home.

PM me if interested...........

Will your politicians allow you to take a "bear repellent" implement with you?

They're  not real excited about it but I do at times. But anything that would have much effect on a bear is a real burden to haul around with you

At night,  asleep,  it's a crap shoot if you wake up before he's got ya. All the repellent  isn't any good if he's drug your sleeping bag away from the tent before you figure out whats going on. It's easier to not put myself in that situation rather than figure out how to make it work.

I dunno, a 4" .44 Mag makes a good pillow and you can get a motion sensor at HF for cheap.  I used to put one outside our shop so we could tell if the Boss was trying to sneak up on us...

Like I said , anything that would get the job done is too much weight to haul around with you
