Aftermarket fuel caps
« on: June 01, 2017, 04:19:03 PM »
I'm looking at a bit of a change on the r65 and wanted to get a different fuel cap for the bike.

I've looked at the usual ones like the monks cap type and the screw in aluminium replacements which I have already, but was wondering if anyone has any good resources for any alternatives to these.

I like the idea of maybe a push button type which pops up when pushed so that you can unscrew it.

I've tried googling a bit but just seem to come up with the usual.

It would take quite of metalwork but a pop-up cap from a later bike (i.e. early 2000s R-Bike) would be pretty slick!

Found a company called www.motone.co.uk in the uk who are going to be manufacturing a simple and elegant version in the coming months.

It's not pop up but looks good in my opinion, but not to everyones taste.

You got me thinking about the cap issue. My cap is a little stubborn to take off and one of these days it's going to give up. I found this pop up that I would use. The price is too much for me and would prefer a fix that was more utilitarian and cheaper. If you run across a cheap fix, i'm definitely interested.

I would be up for that - especially if they did one in anodized titanium or black finish for me  :o

Once they get back to me with the release of them I will let you know.

They are a decent price at £44 ($56)
