Placed an order with Euro Motoelectrics on Wednesday afternoon .

Received the order Friday afternoon .

Oil, air and fuel filters for the oilhead .

Oil filters for the airheads .

Total price including shipping cost from the Denver area to Phoenix ( 950 miles, 1600km ), was about half of what the dealer wants for the same OEM filters .

Never going back to the dealer again for filters .

John Rayski is EME. Nice guy and he will answer your phone call for information or help. These days, so few BMW dealerships support Airhead parts and service that helping keep indie vendors afloat becomes increasingly critical.

Was in my local multi-line dealership this morning with an Airhead buddy. The dealership does a good business in selling new BMWs but my friend wanted to buy new tires at this shop and have them mounted by the dealer.

"Oh no. We can't do that. It might fall off the lift."

Seriously?

I helped buddy source his tires and tubes then drove him, his wheels and new rubber to my tire guy 20 miles south. One day and done. No worries.

I've been going to this BMW dealer since I moved to the Phoenix area 23 years ago, only 6 miles away and is airhead friendly for parts, as long as you know what you are looking for .

Do your research first and copy the page(s) of the IPC before going in there .

I bought my oilhead there 14 years ago .

my experience has been 100% positive - they did sell me a did ICU, but when i emailed them they sent another out priority post and were happy for me to send them a photo of the dead one after i hit it with the back side of an axe.

I have no use for BMW dealers. Everyone in the local BMW group was excited when a new BMW dealership opened near where I live about 5 years ago. So was I. Prior to that the nearest authorized BMW dealership was approx 160 miles away and they would only grudgingly order airhead parts if you had all the order info ready when you got there. They would not research anything and all orders were special order, NO RETURNS or EXCHANGE  available. "F" that, I support my independent shops and online vendors that specialize in our herd. I don't even go to the local dealership for special events days. They have nothing that interests me and certainly don't support me. I understand the need to turn a profit but instead of supporting us and our attempt to preserve interest in the marque, they act like we are a drain on their resources. No thanks. I will pay a premium, if need be, to to support the independents!

Last time I went to the dealer for a filter was in an emergency.  I checked the price before leaving the house and the Ft. Worth Stealer charged me $5 OVER list price!

John is a stand-up dude.  I remember ordering a voltage regulator once and he sent me one of his higher priced adjustable ones just so I could try it out!  I've also bought a new alternator rotor from him for my R100 - been fine for almost 10 years...

The last filter I bought from the dealer, was for my '81 R65, I needed a hinged filter for a bike with an oil cooler, after replacing the broken cam chain .
I usually have at least one filter for an oil cooler bike and one for non oil cooler bike .
But I slipped up and left the stock go to zero .
Price was around $25 including tax, on the way home I was convinced that I need to get my filters from Euro Motoelectrics .
With the reduced use my bikes are getting these days, I'm good for at least 2 years now .

I have 2 years of oil stocks and enough filters to last me until the spring of 2020. The last batch of filters I bought cost £3.67 each inc delivery.

I would have to be very desperate to darken the door of the nearest glass palace BMW showroom which is a very unpleasant ride into the city 20 miles away.

George, I buy Wix filter kits from rockauto.com.  Wix filters are highly respected in automotive circles and the Airhead filters look to be as good, quality wise, as OEM.

I have been dealing with EME for a few years now mainly for K bike stuff and the order usually arrives in about four days via DHL.  Expensive postage but guaranteed to arrive.  There are others I know here who use them as well. 

We have similar issued with dealers here but you have to know which one to go to. 

As Oz is so far away from everywhere else postage is the killer here so I shop between the two UK outlets and EME.  All have provided excellent service. 

If I know someone whom is travelling this way, they can usually save me the postage costs if they throw a few items in their luggage.
