R65 with an S Fairing

Hey Guys, I just stumbled upon this really good opportunity to get an R90S Fairing for a really good deal. I did my research and I know it would require a little shoehorning and trimming to fit, but I'm pretty experienced with fiberglass works, so modifications won't be a problem.


I'm just curios on whether it would be worth the effort, time and money to have one installed on the bike.

Being used to the R65 in its current naked configuration, wind buffeting at 140km/h is annoying, and a tall windshield is intrusive and clumsy for my daily short, city commutes.  Is the S Fairing good enough/practical for touring use? Would you think it will look sleek with the smaller R65 profile?

Opinions would be greatly appreciated.

The headlight hole is bigger than the R65 bucket and I doubt it would do much for touring.  JC Whitney carries a fairing that has the correct size headlight opening but I don't know if they would ship there.  I had one on the Junkyard Dawg for a couple of years.

I think they also carry a more rounded one similar to the 90S fairing as well.

R90S Fairing for a really good deal

Depending on how good a deal that is, you might want to hang it in your garage. I checked Ebay and one just sold for $453

Julio, While its not an "S" fairing I have a Firth Designs fiberglass "S" style fairing on my R65. It is complete with an additional "dash" inside that greatly improves the rigidity. It is about 3/4 the size of an oem S fairing and fits the R65 nicely. While it doesn't eliminate the buffeting it makes it a lot more pleasant to ride. If I get caught in a sudden downpour I can lean over the tank and get out of the worst of the in-your-face rain blast.
