Greetings, I'm new to this forum. I recently purchased a not running since 02, 1982 R65. I have been restoring vintage triumphs for a few years and thought it was time to try my hand at a German machine. From I've seen so far it this bike is well built. Phil

Welcome to the asylum, Phil. Your '82 R65 looks like an unaltered virgin. Consider yourself fortunate that however many previous owners the bike has had, there may be little or no "modifications" to wiring or other areas that might create all sorts of confusion for you.

First tip for you: When you decide to remove the exhaust system, go gentle with the exhaust 'butterfly' nuts. Hopefully. your seller kept a slather of anti-seize on the threaded exhaust stubs and the nuts. Should you meet resistant in unscrewing the nuts, stop where you are and post up for tips on saving mucho dinero.

Thanks for the photo. Us'uns love photos.

Sweet.  All original by the look of things.

I had a visitor down here from Mt. Carmel last October.

It looks like everything is there. Nice score.

Would you might share how much you paid for it? Range would be great if you might.
