Watched the highlights the other night and thought the interview with the "American" Tourist was a hoot ...... after explaining about his trip being on his bucket list and what a bucket list was..... er got it, the camera panned onto the Bonneville he had hired which had a large sticker on the tank with an arrow and in large print, Ride on the left
..... funny, in for a shock if he forgets.

Here in the Republic of Texas, we read that IoM hotels, cottages, B & Bs, barns, mangers 'n such are already booked for the next 5+ years. A little research explains why. Tour operators have already bought up the joint! So, if I ever want to scratch the IoMTT off my bucket list, it'll have to be with one of these desert bedouin bandits. Could be worse I suppose.

I believe the Nomads from Germany have the ferries booked for 3 years in advance, the issue is getting from mainland UK to the IOM lucky son in law not long back from active service in the US of A was handed free tickets (last year)  and took his pal instead of me..... I have a long memory and forgiveness is not on the menu, I would not mind but his bike has not got an engine. best bet would be to hire a Camper Van (RV) and take it over bit of research required but it is on my bucket list having done paning for gold in the Rockies leaves me with a spare slot.

ps if you come up with a plan count me in...........

I would like to do the classic TT at some point, that would have a lot of appeal.

I've just booked our ferry's for next year's TT, (deposit only) and at this point if you've not booked you're best off waiting until January when pre books like me have to pay, and many drop out, because the routes to and from the Island are now pretty much sold out.

As for accommodation you can book a holiday cottage but it will cost you an arm and a leg, the best bet is to camp in terms of value for money- unless your my wife in which case she wants some comfort so we've booked a 'glamping' tent near Saint Michaels.

Information on Ferry's and accommodation is all on the IOM tourist board site.

Thanks for the info Tony, I am going to talk to my cousin who lives just north of you as he has been a few times but I cannot remember which ferry route he uses... is there one from Whitehaven ??

Liverpool and Heysham are the places to go from, unless you want to head to Ireland and go from Larne. We're outbound from Liverpool and the return to Heysham to get the dates we wanted. Friday to Saturday so I can watch all the races :)

Been on the website.. £190 return from Heysham for the van (bike on board) tickets available for the August festival of Motorcycling which would tick my boxes plus if camping it is less likely to snow and beer is probably cheaper than during the TT  [smiley=beerchug.gif].
