Gruber battery success story
« on: August 03, 2014, 02:11:34 PM »
I moved to the mountains over a year ago. I went from a big yuppy house with 3 car garage in the valley to a compact home at 7000 feet altitude WITH NO GARAGE. Obviously some things couldn't come with me and the R65 was one of those things.

I went to retrieve the R65 this weekend (over a year later) and to my surprise the battery still had enough to light the ignition lights. I clicked it off and hauled it home. Yesterday I went and dropped the bowls and squirted carb cleaner in all the jets I could get to and added some fresh fuel. I was going to hook up the charger for awhile and fire it off. I said, "what the hell" and hit the starter button and the damn thing turned the motor over. I set the chokes and hit it a few more times and it fired up like the day I put it away!!!!!!

The Gruber battery was less than a year old when i parked it. Nothing was disconnected and  the carb bowls were not  emptied as It was going to be a short storage I thought.

I was surprised when the battery still lit the dash lights but I was totally amazed when the Gruber battery cranked the bike to life after setting for over a year.!!!!!!!!!!

$39 dollars well spent

I have the same battery in all of my bikes, Gruber is a local company for me .
I seem to get 24-30 months of service from one of these batteries here in a low desert environment .
Average low temp in the garage early May through mid October is 95 F, high temps of 107 F for about 5 months .
I wondered how long one of these batteries would last in a more temperate environment .
I pick the batteries up in person, wearing my work uniform and get the wholesale price, $23 each, no sales tax .

Riding all year long since 1993 .
I'll give up my R65, when they pry my cold dead hands from the handlebars !!!!!
