How many days did YOU ride in 2013?
« on: January 11, 2014, 06:52:00 AM »
Just curious.  For years now, I've been keeping up with the number of days I ride each year, hoping to reach my target goal of 300 out of 365 days.  Alas and alack, I've never managed to make it.  The best I have done to date has been 255 days.  For 2013 it was 222 days.  Anyone else out there keep up with this trivial record?  (I'm sure Bob Roller out west has hit this mark a few times before!)  ;)

I had 357 days in 2013 .

We had 8 rain days here in the ' Valley of the Sunstroke ' !!! ;D

I keep track of how many miles I've ridden, don't have the figure in front of me, I'm at work, but I think it's around 5300 miles, 8500 km, between the three bikes I have back in service .

Only put 1800 miles, 2900 km on my 'everyday ' 4 wheel vehicle .

Riding all year long since 1993 .
I'll give up my R65, when they pry my cold dead hands from the handlebars !!!!!

Making up for a very poor start to the year I had the best ever November and December and rode every day to work  which meant I beat the 2012 total of 203 days by one day.

204 days
2152 miles
Average for the year 69.3 MPG Imp (57.7 US)
Best 76.4 MPG (63.6)
Worst 63.4 MPG (52.8)
Summer average 73.1 MPG (60.9)
Winter average  65 MPG (54.1)

I'm off to a good start in 2014 with 6 days so far.

I don't know my total for the year, but I commuted 3 1/2 months straight cage-free.  June, July, Aug. and 1/2 of Sept.

I guess I need a paper calendar on the wall so I can check them off?  I don't think so.

I really got sick of getting wet last year.  I think I will be more choosy this year and not think of it as something to prove.  I thought I did pretty good.  Good enough for me.  Now that kitty is gone, I hope to stretch my legs a little bit with my PTO (paid time off).

I use a spreadsheet. Yeah, I admit it, I'm a data junkie.

I usually have a Beatles calendar of some sort hanging in the laundry room which leads into to the garage, and I have a Sharpie taped on a piece of string hanging by the calendar.  If I'm on my way out to mount up and ride for that day, I mark an "X" on the day.  I've figured that in order to meet my goal of 300 out of 365 days, I can't have more than 5 open calendar days with no "X" marked for that month.  Maybe this year....  ::)

I don't count the days, I just record the mileage.  But the R65 days are usually a hundred miles, as that's my round trip commute.

R65:  7,464
...about 1,400 miles on my bicycle, a Salsa Fargo 2.  That's the mileage I want to increase.

Less than 5,000 miles on my '81 Toyota pickup.

Edit:  sheesh, I spent almost a thousand bucks on that R65 last year in parts.  About half in tires.  To be fair, I rarely need to buy two sets in one year.  I haven't paid yet for the valve seat replacement, just for some of the parts.
