Wire Terminal Crimper

I have a buddy In Hotlanta that shares my interest in the VW Cabriolet. Brian is a major DIYer and has often lead me down that road while saving me considerable money -which often goes to support my motorcycle habit. Anyway...

Brian has a saying about working with vehicle electrics;

His thought can easily transfer to having good, solid connections of wires to terminals -car, motorcycle, tractor, whatever.

Perhaps y'all have noticed the crimped wire connections on the Airheads. They are not soldered but they are a solid connection made even stronger by the metal terminal clamping onto the wire sheathing.

I've been using crimp connectors for many years with success. Sometimes even soldering the terminal/wire connection after a crimp. I also, as a general rule, remove the colored plastic sleeve and cover the terminal with shrink tubing for a tidy finished look.

To open up additional wiring options, I purchased an open barrel  terminal crimper plus a supply of 'B' and 'F' type terminals along with a few coupler sets. I'd like to try these terminals to see if they function as the BMW OEM items or as well as my current techniques.

I recently added a 7 pin trailer connector to my 4Runner, so there was a bit of wiring involved.  Using the right tools, especially quality tools, can lessen the aggravation of electrical work.

Unfortunately, my wire stripper sucks and has yet to be replaced, so it was slightly less joy for that job. Plenty of beer involved though.

That's probably a very good investment. I'm always left with a less-than-satisfied feeling after using the the standard cheapo crush connections.

The right tool always does a better job!

And I like the saying about grounds  ;D
