i was just out in the shop aand i had the exhaust pipes run high over the jugs. i really like the look, i would have to make some changes to the exhaust pipes but nothing to hard. wish i had a set of fish tails to see how they would look run high??? though they would be really close to my legs so i would have to run some heat sheilds or wrap they in exhaust heat tape or something.

Carbs in front, exhaust bundling over/around gearbox?  Hot feet, look like a fighter plane.

i didnt finish on April 1st like i planned. i am still waiting on a couple of parts that have been on back order for ever. i also took place in a contest on another forum with other crazies like myself who took there bikes and made all different types and style, a cafe, boardtrackers, choppers, bobbers and everything in between. even though i didnt finish finish i was able to complete the rules and ride mine on April 1st so mine could still be voted on by the other members. as of today i have 44% of the vote! my nearest competor at the moment is 21%!!! kind of suprised at that, i even voted for him!!!

here is the last pix i did, got a little more done since this but i am still waiting on the right fuel taps and a venting fuel cap.

apes? LOL i am not a ape hanger kind of guy, unless you are saying i sweat alot and have to keep the pits dry! LOL

i am still working on what to do with my pipes, right now the cross over is blocked off and they as long as you see. i had it out on monday and with the straight pipes it was crazy loud! when i got home my wife said she could hear me every where in twon and if i wanted to sound like a harley i should get one.

Looking real good, Jon!

So are you thinking custom pipes might be in order?  Those are getting you to a good location, but they look awful, compared to the rest of your artwork.
Or, maybe it is just because they are the aftermarket bend, instead of the BMW curve.

Jon,

Finally figured out that my works network security is blocking your photo site, so I have not been seeing your progress for some time.

However, fired up the old steam computer from home....And, man you should be 'in business'!  Better than that 'Orange County' crowd.

I would love that frame.

I don't think that there will be any unwanted flexing in that swingarm, either !

How do you plan to route your spark plug leads in the end ?

Very unique - you have a very creative mind and more skills with metal-forming than I will ever have !

i am at it again but have learned from my mistakes. so i re did the back bone and seat rails a little. nice having another frame that had the nech cut off so i can still ride this one. i should have the new improved frame done early next week. i am not going to use that harly looking tank and found a honda dream tank with the chrome side panels, plus it has alot more gallons. i can then tuck alot of the stuff that was on the back bone back there again. i am also adding some gussetts on the back and replacing the rear brake arm mount with the gusset.

i have a set of mufflers that are louder than i really want but will work out nice for what i am doing. in replacing the back bone i raised it a little plus kicked the rake out 5 more degrees which will make it like a long wheel base bike with out it being on of those silly long chopper looking front ends. (chopper front end? i know its a springer  ;D)

also working real hard on setting up so i can run my givi hard bags so when i take a longer trip i have more than a back pack and a tank bag.

i rode this for a month set up like a stock frame kind of cafe'd and boy did it flex. once i went to the welded seat mounts which tied the rear of the frame together boy. and i still dropped a bunch of weight on this thing even though it doesnt look like it.

steve if i can find another frame i would build you one easy, shipping would be killer though. i do have a friend that lives on that side of the pond that does stuff just like this and if you asked he could do one easy, plus the bloke is smart as a tack about this stuff, i pick his grey matter alot and bounce ideas off him just so i know my numbers are right.

Ohmygawd!  First thing I thought of was the mid-60s Honda 305 Scrambler. Just squint a little. Even the tank captures the look. Gotta visit your suggested site. Thanks for the pics.   Monte

All of those high-pipe boxer pictures (and other interesting ones) I have found in the (English language) "Boxer From /5" book, recently bought
from the Omega web site.   I've really enjoyed reading it and checking out the "behind the scenes" stories and pictures.
