If it's this one

It's the same owner as the other i posted.
The first link (bike with 71000) was offered to me for £1000, but i didn't want to pay that to chop it up, it seemed worth £1000.

Yep, thats the one. I like the first one you posted too - looks like this guy is a trader judging by his feedback - he seems to sell quite a few bikes. He said the price is negotiable which is good. Trouble is I can't get out to see it this weekend as I've already got loads of commitments, so I'm hoping it'll still be available next week! Not many R65s about these days...

Just thought I'd post a quick update - that bike sold instantly, sadly - it was a peach by all accounts  ::)  Oh well, the search continues

Hi Mr E., I just bought Beemer's  ;)

No doubt I'll have lots of newbie type questions to ask in due course! My plan is to run it as is for a year to identify any issues, and then strip it down and do a full rebuild. If anything serious comes to light in the short term, the rebuild could start in the summer  [smiley=laugh.gif] Fingers crossed though!

You will probably find there will be no need to strip it down and do a full rebuild.  It looks good and has not really covered the mileage to warrant a rebuild.

Unless you are just looking for something to fiddle with.

May I recomend a rolling restoration?  One job at a time, as they appear.  keep the bike on the road between jobs and enjoy it.

Just my tuppence.

Hopefully a full blown resto won't be necessary, but in the back of my mind is a little voice that keeps saying the bike is 30 years old, so while it may look nice in pictures, it'll probably be hiding a few nasties when I start looking a bit deeper.

I'm thinking that the chassis will be a bit scabby at best, and may have some rust that needs attention before becoming a structural issue. Ditto the tank - if it doesn't leak now it probably will start to if some form of preventative action isn't taken. (I prefer prevention to cure - cure usually involves a dark windy very wet breakdown  :P )

If its as good as described then I'll be a very happy bunny! I'm hoping that its a good un - I always prefer to buy from a forum/club like this as at least you know the owner cares about the bike!
