Hi people, just for once I'm not yelling for help. Just wanted to remark on a strange aspect of my 79 engine and wondering if they are all the same. It's this: the engine doesn't care much at all about ignition setting, which can be way out and not make any noticeable difference. But it's super-sensitive to carb settings. Recently I replaced the ancient carb floats and needles and did a new setup. A half-turn on the idle mixture screws can make the difference between an engine which starts instantly and one which is almost impossible to start at all. And a one-eighth turn on the throttle stop screws can change a 3,000 rpm "idle" to a good steady idle at around 900 rpm. It doesn't matter, the bike runs just fine, but I wonder if they are all like that!
