Welcome Andy!
I think that it has been sometime since we;ve had a member on the forum from Holland.   I think that you need to make another post or two before the forum will let you post a picture, so go ahead - we love to see pictures!

Good to hear from you Andy! Widening our international exposure is so encouraging for this forum! With your R65 having sat for 7 years even though it was run yearly may still have some issues based on age of rubber, metal corrosion, old grease that will need some attention in time. You will find this forum very good for answering all and every question with informative and patient replies so never hesitate to ask any question.
So what was the problem regarding the running poorly aspect? Hesitation? Hard starting? Idling rough? Poor acceleration? etc?
They can be generally cold blooded bikes and seem to need to be warmed up before smoothness and idling well kicks in. At least my LS needs to be warmed up! But I am in Canada  ;)
1983 R65LS - LRB still my favourite!? 1988 Honda NX250, "Toodles Too" and a Suzuki DR650, "Calypso." All stored in the "Brrrmmm Closet".

Hi, Andy. Welcome to the R65 Asylum... once interned, there ain't no escape.

A couple other ideas for you:

Consider flushing out the fuel tank and doing a close examination for potential rust and/or flaking of any tank liner material. The carb float bowls are likely in poor shape due to fuel deposits left by evaporating fuel. Could be a clogged fuel/air orifice, damaged diaphrams, clogged jets, blah, blah, blah.

Research the site for carb overhaul info and do only one at a time so you'll have a reference when the senior moments strike. The enrichener units, plus the Bing main carb body, have "handed" components; ie: left-side only and right-side only.

Are you running the old, metal-covered spark plug caps? Status of plug leads and coil/s? Corroded wire connections can play havoc with proper running.

A good manual is very helpful. Lots to do.

Thanks for the warm welcome.
The problem with idle is that it revs high idle and then drops down till it stalls.
What i have done already is,
New oil
plugs,
filters,
cleaned the carbs
tank inspection (no rust or corrosion whatsoever)
new battery
replaced all fluids.

Have you had an opportunity to inspect the ignition points and advance mechanism inside the Ignition Trigger Unit (ITU)? Commonly referred to as the "bean can", this item, plus correct ignition timing, can have a large effect on idle revs.

Lots to do. . .

Welcome Andy i used to be a regular visitor to the Netherlands which bit are you from ? come to England and we will find you some hills to ride.
Check the connecting hose from the carbs to the head they tend to harden and crack leaking air from the joint causing the revs to rise and run "Lean".
