Finally getting there!
« on: April 09, 2011, 04:03:33 AM »
Hi all,
Thanks for help etc on the tech pages.

I am finally getting there, The frame is painted! and the tank and bits should be finished over the weekend! Have registered the bike as RED now. and am hoping to book an MOT for Thursday. Fingers crossed everything will go fine.
Only need to fill bevel-box and swing-arm with oil. and then start her up and balance carbs.
Rear tyre keeps going flat tho! :-( only had a few thousand miles on it too... am going to use compressor to get some good pressure in it tonight and hopefully it will seal it... as i cannot see that its got a puncture! only other thing is a dodgy valve.?
anyway just a little update.

Will post loads of pics after MOT!

Cheers
Ben

Keep up the good work sounds promising for some riding soon, the alloy wheels have been known to go porous over time. "paint" the wheels with soapy water to see if thats the problem.
I tend to loose about 3psi a week.

??

Are you using tubeless tires?

I have just put on the third set of Battleaxes with tubes and have no issues with loosing pressure at all. In fact I tend to forget to check the pressure.

Hi,
I have never had a problem before and the front is fine after being left fully pressurized for ages! Ordered some bits today and have MOT booked for Thursday at 2pm!
Only need to get the insurance sorted now.

Cheers
Ben

Well after initially failing the MOT yesterday, she passed!
So thats the good news.

The bad news is that my experiment with the super duper marine enamel is over. As it is not at all petrol resistant. the stuff basically melts on contact with petrol! :-S

The rear sub-frame i will leave as the marine paint is really tough. but the tank etc will have to be repainted! ASAP!
lucky i still have the old tank i can put on for a few days while i get it painted.

Only decision is rattle can or professional paint job?

anyway still very stressed after yesterdays fun.... :-(

I guess the  "smog nazis" are your emission testers.

Our Ministry Of Transport test is an emissions and safety inspection. Bikes of our age don't have any measured emission limits to pass (I think). They get through as long as they are not blowing clouds of smoke.
