Are there alternative maps??  here in Australia I have also downloaded shonky maps, which is his name and not a reflection on quality.

Shonky is only Australian maps, but possibly someone does something for yankee land.

Shonky is far superior to Garmin when you leave the sealed road.
Inside capital cities, city navigator is still better.

All I have is a very old Mapsource US Roads & Recreation V3.03

It came with my first Legend, which I bought used.

I doubt it would be compatible with a newer GPSr.

Roger that, Bob. This old Eagle Scout still has several compasses on hand but prefers a wristwatch to the sundial. It's that danged daylight savings time on & off again issue. Y'all Arizona folks know about that.  ;)

Hey Monte, Harbor Freight has genyoowine brass compasses with sundial for $2.99, right next to the third hand thingy.  One of those would look cool mounted on your Mexican bike.  Just remember that you can't use it with a magnetic tank bag.  Throws the sundial off. ;D

Since you're at work, Crenshaw, shouldn't you be doing something like, oh, working rather than beating me up?

Now where did I put your favorite boss's telephone number... that would be Theresa's.

At least try and look busy. I'm a master at that when I'm on the school district's dime. ;D

And get that Brit bike making steam, too.

Now you are starting to sound like my wife.  She made me start wearing the arm sling again and telling me that I've been doing to much (like working on m/c's).  That's OK because I've been telling people that she beat me up and broke my collar bone rather than admit to falling off of my scooter! Now if you really want to get serious about navigation I have a couple of sextants and an artificial horizon that I could sell. :)

The Horizontal Situation Indicator (HSI) is the GoTo instrument, IMHO.

That would be fun as a heads-up display, but I think when it is really whacked over, you would be too busy to appreciate it.

Now if you could have software to incorporate gauges, including a HSI and elevation in a video shot from the bike or rider!  That would be neat!
