Amazing small BMW motorcycle world

Last year we were taking a break on the side of one of our wonderful Sonoma County roads and another Airhead rode by - a guy on an R90S.  He stopped to make sure we were doing okay.  He gave me his card and said to look him up if I ever needed any top end parts.  He knew what was likely to come up on my R65, but I sure didn't.

In the meantime the summer went by, life happened, and the winter went by; all with not as much riding as I would have liked.  But, this spring we got out and had some wonderful rides.  Then a few weekends ago my bike broke, as you may know if you've read the tech section.   And I've put some pictures up there now too.

My mechanic said he knew someone that might have the parts.  In the meantime I remembered this guy that had stopped, and I still had that guys card.  So I called him yesterday after my mechanic gave me the update about the failure.  He wasn't there, but I left a message.

This morning when I went by there, the guy my mechanic had said had the parts was there.  It turned out it was the same guy as had given me the card last year!   ;D

So, I got the parts right from him, after Michael had gone over them and checked them out of  course.  After doing a search on the internet, I knew that $250 wasn't a bad deal at all.

3 - 4 weeks and it should be done!   8-)  If it's done sooner than that I will be a really happy camper!!

Melena,

I was at an airhead/local BMW lunch event today.  I guess ~ 60 folks.  There were some very smart longtimers there who clearly know the marque and how to wrench.  I'm envious, but I doubt they can plumb a heart like I can.

It's a large world full of fine people;  when you break it down to the local with similar interests that's where the work gets done.

Good-luck getting back on the road soon.

Peter
