''Nice'' plants go wild in this country,almost impossible to control.Climbers like clematis,jasmin,convolvulus,honeysuckle etc are pest plants,and you can be told to remove them from your property,but they'll just take over anyway.

The Three Kings area (so called because of 3 volcanic cones) is a reasonably old Auckland suburb by NZ standards,houses go back to the '30's and '40's,so 60 years in the ground is a reasonable guess.It may not have been buried - living in an area of Auckland of the same age I was digging a garden and found a brick path 6in under the grass,and found the remains of an old shed on top of that too.So put something on the ground and leave undisturbed and it'll become buried soon enough.

The barrel and head have disappeared completely,the crankcase and gearbox a lump of corroded aluminium ,but the carb is still complete.It must be brass.

My brother told me about a motorcycle that had been hidden under a front porch in the western suburbs of Boston a few years back .

The home was undergoing a major restoration, it was built in the mid 1800's, after dismantling the raised front porch, they found a motorcycle from around 1913 .

The owners son at the time was a 'hot blooded hooligan', stole the bike, then shortly afterward went off to Europe to fight in WWI, never came back .

The bike was entombed behind the masonry walls of the porch by the fallen soldiers father, until it was discovered about 90 years later, still covered by a canvas tarp .

The bike was in remarkably good shape, considering it was in there almost a century .

Bike was sold at an auction (can't remember the exact price, but it was in excess of $30,000US), restored, and ridden frequently by the bike's new owner .
