I could happily spend a few hours there.  Those are even older than my '58 Chevy pickup.

Man, those look like some really old cars, too, like from the 30s and 40s!  Looks like time and the weather has reduced them all to the same hazy shade of rust and beige!

The steering wheels are on the wrong side that's how they ended up in the junk yard.

Dav,

I looked at some of your other albums.

Man, your engine detailing is superb!

How did you get that look?

What did you use and did you need to dis-assemble the engine to do it?

NOS, the whole bike was stripped right down, & the engine/gearbox/drivetrain rebuilt, it was done in the early 90's, i was to young & dumb to take notice or even to look over my old mans shoulder while he was rebuilding her. On the engine he used black 2pak & where its grey he used some sort of outboard motor paint & it still looks good after all these yrs. But it was stored under the house/workshop for about 6yrs until recently & it took a good 2 weekends to scrub & polish her up back to life.

Your doing a complete rebuild are't you? mate cant wait to see the end result 8-)

If mine can get anywhere near that quality, will I be one happy bunny!

I had hoped to leave the engine alone, but the more I strip her down I can see that Lucky Lou was right, it's all got to come apart and build her up from the bottom.

So he painted the engine casing?

Ok, I can try that as I want to replace the rocker covers with black units, so I can experiment on the existing covers I have. Outboard paint, I'll see what I can find.

Anyway, your bike looks beautiful, I sat and went through ALL the images about 10 times last night making notes on the detailing, your dad was pretty good!

Thanks Mate and I look forward to revealing mine when she is finished.

But looks might be deceptive; remember that the sheet metal of that era was heavier gauge than it is in today's autos. There might still be good metal under all that rust!
