New Triumphs at the local BMW dealer
« on: June 07, 2009, 10:59:09 PM »
Seeing Sue from Canada's signature made me remember to tell you about something interesting at the local BMW dealer.  Santa Rosa BMW is now Santa Rosa BMW Triumph.  Yep!  They have the new Triumphs.  The Triumph dealer in Santa Rosa went out of business so I guess they thought they'd pick up the slack.

They are going to have an open house next weekend and test rides on all the new bikes.  I've got to go check out that Triumph that Sue thinks she wants.  Too bad they didn't get the Moto Guzzi though.

If I'm around, I'll go and see if I can get a ride on something.  But I may be out of town.  Either way I'll get a ride.   8-)

I want a Daytona 675!  Crummy gas mileage though, just like my old Triumph.

Hmmm, Melena, trying to visualize you and Sue cruising around on a pair of Trumpets.  :o Just don't seem right!  ;)

I get ya Justin...but the Triumphs may "triumph" yet with that 29.5 inch seat height.  But those valves and that chain...hmmmm. I think Aïda's Capitol BMW in Raleigh also deals with Triumph???
I still like the Moto Guzzi too but hey, I love LRB!....who was happily going the real 70 mph (GPS validated) along Michigan's interstates with nary a blink. Yeah, that F650GS was OK just no soul, at 71 hp and lightweight and a sorta low seat. It is actually pretty hard to beat the power and amenities of that F twin actually. Shhhhhh! LRB is listening.
1983 R65LS - LRB still my favourite!? 1988 Honda NX250, "Toodles Too" and a Suzuki DR650, "Calypso." All stored in the "Brrrmmm Closet".

Yeah, Justin, but it's fun to look.   8-)

So, I see  you're selling your R100RT.  I know someone who wants an R100.  But Texas is pretty far from this area.  How much do you want?

They do have a nice look.  I know that I am impressed with the latest Bonnevile SE models that they are just releasing this year on this side of the pond - they are styled more like the later 70s model T140 bikes with cast wheels and shorter wheelbase.  Still, there is something very classic about a wire-spoked bonny.

The new USA Triumph T120 Bonneville has seventeen inch allow wheels to help lower the seat height. The reverse cone Dunstall-ish megas are a nice touch.

However, IMHO, the new -and best selling- T100, with a 19-incher up front, an 18" rear, plus spoked rims and rubber knee pads looks better. More retro is good. Even the pea-shooter mufflers are OK.

Yup 17" rear & 19" front. Rock steady and pulls strongly from way down (we are 5 000 ft). 140 km/h is about the most you want to do thanks to wind buffeting.

Very quiet, very refined, very nice. Next I want to sample a 1200 boxer .... you listening BMW South Africa?
