I've kinda been ignoring my R65 since I got my R1150R but in the last week I've replaced the battery with a new gel cell,the oil and filter,the carb floats and needle vaves,and the front tire and damn... I spent the whole day riding the machine and now know why I fell in love with it in the first place,with the cafe bars and rear sets it was like being hard wired to the road. A feeling I just can't get from my new beemer no matter how well it performs.

Way cool! Everyone who has a chance to ride other bikes knows exactly how that feels! W000t! Go Lowen!  ;D

My R1150R/R1200ST friend loves to swap bikes with me, hoping I'll catch New Bike Lust. Ha! Never works. Those monsters have to be shoved hard around the corners compared to the little SWB bike just squirting through the curves with no effort. HE oth keeps talking about picking up an old bike! Ah HA!   ;)

What year R1150R do you have? I've got an'02 R1150R Atlanta blue, and both bikes were built with different riding in mind, the R65 is at it's best in the twisties, and the oilhead seems to be comfortable at high speed not as 'flickable' in tight turns like the R65 . It's a bit odd that the oilhead gets better fuel mileage than the R65 and it's got 75% more engine displacement. I enjoy riding both bikes, I just take which ever bike will suit the ride that day.

Yeah, Bob, the new "Hexheads" get great mileage as well.  My kid got over 50 mpg on his '05 R1200ST during break-in.  Of course, once broken in his riding style returned to "normal" and his mileage decreased. ;-)

Lowen, I didn't know you had an Oilhead, too.

Since I got the R65 back on the road and being a lazy kinda guy I've been riding the R65 to work every day as it's been closest to the garage door and you know I'm not really missing my '04 R1150R. The new bike love affair with my 1150 is over, it's my touring bike and my R65 which is set up cafe style is my going to work, pub jumping bike.( Yes pub jumping, pub crawling is for people in cages)
