Found a picture of this from the Dakar Rally. Witch KTM is wining in a big way. Only a few BMW in the race, 650GS, R1200GS, and R900GS RR.

I think it is a darn pretty bike.  I know many don't like the sharp angular bodywork, but I do - as long as I can keep my R65 with a 'real' fuel tank.

Hmm, I like it too - it makes alot more sense than the R1200GS models that I see,
which usually look more like 2 wheeled landrovers with all the skid plates and
equipment platforms and racks - you'd need the wide open plains of the
Sahara or the Serengeti to drive those wide behemoths around - this looks
like a much more nimble, practical platform that can drive in / around tight spots.
Probably doesn't weigh that much more than a 650GS, but I bet it has lots more
top-end ! :)

Too bad it doesn't have the fancy front end like the oilheads.  With that, I could almost ignore the fact that I couldn't service it myself, and be putting myself at the mercy of non-roadside serviceable electrics...

And I have to travel 100 miles (160 km) to my nearest dealer.   [smiley=angry.gif]

I'd like it too, if it doesn't weigh as much as that behemoth R1200GS!  If that thing fell over with me on it, I'd never be able to lift it up enough to get out from under it!  ::)  I'd hope the saddle height is manageable, too.  Riding that R1200GS is like climbing on one of the Clydesdales! [smiley=grin.gif]

When I rode my buddy's KTM Adventurer a while back, I thought I wouldn't be able to touch the ground, the seat was so high.  But after I got on it the suspension sank enough so that I didn't have any problem.  Is that how the R1200GS is, or does it stay tall?
