For the brightness, or lack thereof, would the spread of the beam have anything to do with it?  When I was shopping for these I saw that a lot if the bulbs offered a variety of beam/degree patterns.  I think I asked here which was best but there was nothing conclusive.
Since the light is in a little tube and behind what you're trying to illuminate, maybe certain beam shapes ate better for that?
I haven't installed mine yet but, IIRC, I got the wider (maybe 360°?) pattern.
I could be completely wrong but was wondering if those saying it wasn't brighter could have gotten a more pinpointed beam and it's not spreading the light as well?

It goes without saying that sucks completely about your fire Wilcom.  Sorry about the loss of your toys.

The LED's that I installed were of the same design that Joe posted a picture of, I got the same increase in visibility that jp9094 shows in the picture of his speedometer .

The business I purchased the bulbs from no longer sells them .

I checked the thread and no mention of the type of bulb in case I got the wrong one. I think I just ordered a LED replacement for a 194 bulb.... will have to look. I'm dealing with a fire I had in a off site storage..... Lost all the boy stuff, tools golf clubs model airplanes and the list is going on and on. Will get back to the R65 in a few days to see why my lights work but not brighter.    The third pic is what is left of a nice Hannigan fairing and a early vintage Pichler fairing, so sad.

That's very sad. For me, damaging model aircraft away from the field is very annoying. Having them burned is just nasty.

Did you find the cause?

There was a double wide trailer caught fire next to the container I was storing in. It engulfed the container before they put it out.

I had collected some free flight and U-control stuff from my youth. K&B 35, Enya 29, Fox 35, etc. I had a couple of nice "Free Flights" in there, one with a screaming Cox "thermal hopper" 049. I put a pic at the bottom of a few things that didn't get hot enough to ruin,

Bottom line, I woke up this morning and still had a R65 in the garage,,,,,, life's good
