Hi - I have a 1984 R65 twin rear shock.
I have been considering fitting one of these plates once the reconditioned/modified motor has been run in.
I have two questions .......
Can it be fitted without the need to lift or remove the motor from the frame?
Once fitted is there enough clearance for the centre stand?
Thanks ......
1/ yes all of the extended sumps I've seen are fitted in place off the original sump therefore they can be fitted with the engine in the frame.
2/. Ask the manufacturer, later tonight or tomorrow I'll have a look at the centre stand clearance on mine and give you an idea how much room you have to play with.
Question from me - why? You already have a big sump engine and more oil is only going to take longer to heat up and cost more at oil change time. I would need soem very serious convincing that the spin-on filter is well enough plumbed into the system to be a viable replacement for the OEM one, if it said be intended to work in conjunction with the OEM filter my questions are:
1/. Does the manufacturer guarantee there is no pressure drop anywhere.
2/. Does the manufacturer provide information as to the testing they did and are they prepared to warrant against engine damage caused by fitted the thing?
