HAVE I DONE SOMETHING STUPID?

I suppose I should've gone downstairs and looked at my bike, Barry.

Anyway, I had the motor and gearbox out of the frame about this time last year and this spacer just fell out. It wasn't slopping around in there but in fact I put a piece of wire through it to keep it in place so that it was not misplaced. Lucky me by the sound of it! I checked today and no obvious effects of it not being super tight. Maybe someone else got to it in the past.

Does anyone know where the neutral switch leaks from?  Is it the switch itself or the thread?  My one has leaked since I replaced the 'box bearings.  It never used to so I left the switch in while doing the work, of course it got knocked in the process.  Didn't think it would cause it to leak afterwards.  Attempts to stop it leaking by slightly tightening it further have proved futile...

PS I'm just back from a holiday in Thailand where I did a few days riding in hilly Northern Thailand, awesome roads and scenery, well recommended if anyone's planning on going there at some stage.

The switch leaks through the switch body  , not around the threads .
Motobins had at one time, a non OEM switch, made in Italy, looked to be of a higher quality than the OEM switch .

Have not heard if it really is abetter switch .

Tunnelrider - I don't want to hijack or derail this thread but I'd be interested in hearing more about your riding trip in Thailand.  Any chance you'll be making a post about it? Especially how you organized it - did you do it on your own or go with a group, etc.
I'm in that part of the world usually once a year and keep saying I'm going to do that but have yet to make it happen.

Hi BPT, yeah I'll put a post in the 'Ride Reports' section in the next week.  It was easy to go unguided and hire a good bike, even with only one evening's worth of research.

I never pulled that spacer, that I can recall.
I, too, had no clue what you were talking about, until I saw the picture.

I am pretty sure, that whenever I changed the switch without removing the gearbox, I just slid the gearbox back and the switch cleared the spacer.  No?

edit:  Looking at that picture closer, I would say I pulled the gearbox.
