oil filter panic

  i know this topic has been covered many times before but i have been sent new oil filter kit and with it are 4 small metal washers one goes on the drain plug  but the other 3 idont know there are none on the old filter  which is the hinged type  the new one is a one piece does this matter in the manuel it says the filter design changed  are these 3 remaining washers   for the old type filter sorry if this is old news to every one else but  this is my first time service 1986 r65 mono

Those extra metal washers are for an oil cooler installation, if you have to remove the oil cooler lines from the oil filter cover, then use use them on re-assembly.

The manufacturer probably standardized the kit to included these washers to make it simpler ( cheaper) for them, so they didn't need to have two different seal packages.
