Mirrors
« on: February 25, 2016, 08:55:03 AM »
Due to a gravitational encounter with the wife's car a couple winters ago, I've only got one mirror mounted to the remaining pieces of my Pichler.  Eventually I think I want to either go back to stock, which would make the mirror question simple, or mount a Habermann Thunderbolt http://www.boxercafe.com/HMANNfairings.htm.

So the question is, what, if any mirrors will fit under a frame mounted fairing?  I assume the stock ones are too tall and would hit the fairing when the bars are turned.  I absolutely despise bar end mirrors (both form and function), although I've never actually test driven them.

Tricky thing that gravity. I think about what it could do every time I pull the bike into the garage close up next to my car.

I recently fitted a pair of German made chrome plated mirrors in the ends of my handlebars for $30.00 AUD a side. My original mirrors were useless due to excessive vibration. I could tell if something was behind me, but it was a guessing game figuring out what it actually was. My new café style mirrors don't have that same vibration at all and they also make my 1985 model appear more retro. Now I can see the cops long before they take an interest in me.

After some thought, and browsing some photos, I think I've concluded that I would be better served to convert back to the stock headlight configuration, and then eventually add an S fairing.  Looks snazzy, and it would allow me to make the transformation in multiple steps without severe downtime.

So who's got some stock monoshock headlight ears, buckets, turn signals, etc gathering dust?

Additionally, looking at the fiche, the headlight assembly is shown, but not what it would mount to.  Anyone have any suggestions or insights?
