Those grommets look like the same type I got from Moto Bins a little over a year ago .l

Ah, but the trick is these grommets did not fit that way.  During installation they lined up like this: _--  Rotated 180 degrees and they fit fine.  They also protrude less than the originals.  I think the confusion stems from the chassis being an '86, i.e. an R80 with smaller cylinders, but the motor actually being an '84.  I'm monitoring the situation closely, and I've done a couple hundred miles since with no leaks.  (Gassed up Tuesday morning, 192 miles later gassed up last night.)
