Help needed with indicator Switch

hi Folks

Slowing sorting the minor issues on my R65 so i can get her RWC and registered....

I've sorted out the dodgey rear lights and now need to address the indicator switch if it is fixable otherwise need to replace it.

Moving it to the left to results in no blinking lights but a buzzing relay. Easing back just a little she works as intended and the buzzing ceases.

I've had a quick look at the switch unit and can't see how to get into the contacts. Any ideas or advice is much appreciated.

I have had mine apart.
You have to pull the yellow lever out first (It just snaps out) and then you have to pry the switch assy out of the housing.
It is a bit tricky  but it will come out.
Ounce out you can get some contact cleaner into it or try to take it apart some more
I took mine apart to get at the dip switch and was actually able to get that working better. But the directional switch no so much.
The switches in a 30 plus year old vehicle are going to start failing and not be able to carry the load .
That is why I am installing relays  to take the load off of my switches

Getting into either of the handlebar switch assemblies can be a challenge but it is doable.

The best advice I can offer is to place the switch, tools and your hands inside a large, clear plastic bag while you disassemble the rascal. Little parts have a tendency to be drawn into a parallel universe never to be seen again!

Been there, done that.
The trick using a big plastic bag is a good one because there is a ball pushed by a spring which want to get it's freedom ...
You problem comes from the slider which is cut in two parts. If you want to fix it you have to clean it very well and glue it. And pray that this will fix it. I was unable to fix mine for more than a month. I tried to make one by filing a block of Araldite glue and this lasted a few months ....
So in the end I bought a new one. Pricey. Since that time I treat the indicator light switch with a lot of care and gentle movements...
But YMMV ...
