Still looking for Bars

Although I have listed my R65 for sale (no takers yet   I'm still looking for US bars to get a bit more of an upright position for long distance rides. I've found a good bar on Ebay but it's off an 84' R100 the seller says. Anyone know if that will work ok on the R65?

I think they should fit OK as long as your cables are long enough as I believe all of the "US" bars were the same.

I've got the part numbers for the longer cables.  I'll post when I get home Monday.  I have 12" pullbacks on the R65 LT.

well I bought the bars...all feed back says they'll work but the cables may need to be changed. If that's the olny issue it'll be fine since I want to change them any how. They need replacing. I'll look for the cable numbers in future posts and keep posting my results. Thanks for the input.

Bars are 22mm, a lot of the aftermarket bars are 7/8" and may damage the control perches...

Am I correct in reckoning that 7/8th amounts to 22.2mm ?
Reckon it must be as I`m sweating blood,sweat n tears,tryin to encourage my controls onto an aftermarket set on the K75...... :-/

I haven't done the math but you are probably correct as 7/8" is just a hair bigger than 22mm and could crack your control housings if they are forced onto the bar.  Some folks have resorted to grinding the ends of the bars down to the correct size but it would be a lot better to get the correct size bar to start with...

Hi mandosi

The throttle cable part number is 32-73-1-236-614.  (Two required.  Both run up to the throttle control on the bar of my 1980.  Is yours this way?)

The clutch cable part number is 32-73-2-324-956.

I also had to change brake hose line for a longer one from the master cylinder to the fitting on the steering head.  I don't have a part number for this as it was hand made steel braided line.  (Aeroquip Atlanta). 

Its tight but works on my 12" pull back bars.

mandosi, there is a set of US "touring style" (high) bars on e-Bay presently at $10.  Even if the chrome is messed up (they look OK in the small pics) you could rough 'em up and do some satin black rattle-can on 'em.  The later bikes (like my '95 R100RT) came with black bars and they don't look too bad.

 22.2mm = 0.8740131 inches

7/8 inch = 0.875 inches. Good to know. I'd like new bars too.

it doesnt look like much but that little bit makes its hard t put on and the throttle hung up on mine. i ended up taking my clip on bars in and had a friend turn them down on a lathe.
