New Mufflers

Can anyone point me to a source in the US or Canada for new mufflers?  I'm looking for something as close to stock as possible.  Has anyone made another airhead exhaust fit?  Slip-ons?

I don't know if Epco is still in business but that's where I got my stainless steel mufflers years ago.  They look like the originals but turn a golden color when used.  

Staintune also makes stainless exhaust and (I think) mufflers.  They're not made in the U.S. but they ship here no problems.

I'm sure the chrome originals are still available from any BMW dealer, if you prefer them.  They cost at least as much as the stainless stuff though.

Staintunes are a near exact copy of stock. Same comments has previously made on this topic - they cost but are standout the very best in the world.

If you go with Staintune mufflers, they have a more ' aggressive ' sound over OEM mufflers .

I've got a Staintune exhaust system on my '82 LS .

Staintunes rock. For an R65 they'll cost about $700.00 AU each (plus freight), but it's money well spent. Even in a salt air environment my brother was getting years out of them.

I have a project R75/5 that has been out in the weather for ten years. The Staintunes on it are a bit dull but they'll polish up ok. They're certainly not rusted at all.

I believe they are manufactured at Mittagong NSW, south of Sydney, Australia.

I have Mac on r65 and r100 and they are throatier than stockers - just right!

Whatever muffler choice you ultimately decide on, remember that the R65s have a smaller header pipe diameter than all their bigger Airhead brothers. Some replacement mufflers for the R65 may arrive with reducer rings to make a fit. Not a deal killer but do be aware of this when reading, "Fits all R65 models".

I got a lucky deal on a pair of gently used EPCO stainless R65-specific mufflers several years ago. The ABC magazine AirMail listed a pair for sale. Called about them and the Taos NM-based blacksmith told me, "I'll ship 'em to you. If you like 'em, mail me a check for $125.00." They look like Norton peashooters and the sound is terrific.

I'm pretty sure Rocky Point sells Epco mufflers.  I bought mine directly from Epco.  The experience was a pain in the neck.  I've bought other stuff from Rocky Point (he sells Triumph stuff too) and like the company.

so I did some research and ordered a set of mufflers on EBay. I got the wrong ones (wy to long and had an external mounting tab welded on). Info on the net is contradictory that I found regarding what years had which mufflers.. I have an 86 R65 and these are the mufflers on it. I spoke to a tech at Mac and he seemed surprised. Mac produces one that looks like mine but I want to be sure there is not 2 of this style that have different dimensions. I am hoping Mac will confirm thier dimensions today against mine.
