Maybe BMW should have specified a shoulder bolt. It would have been easier to tighten securely with a wrench instead of an Allen key but the original was an M10 countersunk screw threaded full length. Could have been something to do with the difficulty of inserting the screw in the confined space between the sump and the frame tab. The Allen key is hard enough to get in as it is which might explain why they are not always tightened enough and work loose.

Right, you would think they would have used a shoulder bolt with the bushing.

The plus is with the keenest in my bushings I can tighten them up and then lock them in place with the nuts, hopefully they will stay tight longer.

A big thumbs up to everyone on the forum for all the help and ideas. I think there would be a lot fewer R65s on the road without the help that can be found here.
