Best switched-on power source?

I just bought a pair of Oxford heated hand-grips, which use 4 amps.  It says to connect directly to the battery, but any inquisitive youngster passing by could easily press the interesting button on the dash, thereby draining the battery.  

Is there a convenient place to tie into a hot wire that isn't too close to wires carrying ignition pulses?  (It cautions against that).

I was thinking the headlight wiring initially, but then I'd have to deal with the fact that sometimes the high beam would be running and the low wouldn't.

Easy,
Wire the positive from the battery to a relay which could only be energized by a post contact positive (the extra wire dedicated to the optional voltmeter comes to mind...)
So from the "voltmeter" positive, go to a dash board switch then to the relay. The relay will get the ground in the vicinity of it. The output of the relay, coming from the battery will fed the hand grips.
Et voila !
Depending of the year of the bike you can find a place to install the relay in the electrical box or under the tank.

Thanks Georges.  The other possibility I was thinking of was to install a switch for the system underneath the seat.
