And, if you are near to a BMW dealer, I've found that their 7.5W "purple" fork oil works quite nice - though I am perhaps larger rider and tend to ride the LS a bit briskly at times.

I once tried Honda 5W fork oil and found it rather soft & damping not to my liking.   I ended up mixing  part Honda 5W and 10W oils and found that to be pretty good until I relented and just bought the BMW 7.5W stuff.  Depending upon your weight, springs, preload, and riding style, you may prefer a different weight or brand.

"cocked to one side"

Sounds like a perfectly acceptable engineering term to me that conveys the meaning exactly.

Trust me guys...if you are my size..a second man is needed for this job or a lot of ingenuity. Derek and I have done this but with gerry [jury] rigging of different tools to get the straight down force needed.
Oh and Monte is so right...those 10mm drain bolts are just itching to be stripped....I did it, that is stripped 'em, and you're getting the message here that I ain't any strongarm!!! Do not pay any attention to torque values given in any manual...a wee tweak with the 10mm BMW spanner in the tool kit. I got LRB's 10 mm bolts all gooped up with silicone seal, plumbers tape etc...not a leak to date (3 years) but I am NOT proud of my boo boos and I put off changing fork oil!!
1983 R65LS - LRB still my favourite!? 1988 Honda NX250, "Toodles Too" and a Suzuki DR650, "Calypso." All stored in the "Brrrmmm Closet".

To go right back to the beginning of this thread: with forks filled up with the right amount of SAE 5 and after a couple of runs, no sign of any oil leaking. So far, so good. Fingers crossed!
