motor mount question

I've a 1981 R65 engine that came out of a "mixed" frame, and a 1979 R65 frame I'm installing it in.  The donor frame had a non-R65 rear subframe, and I'm not sure what model the main frame was.

The '79 frame is clearly an R65 frame, in good shape; no signs of damage.  With the engine suspended from the mounting rods there is quite a bit of space (perhaps 3/4" to 1") between the inside of the frame tube and the engine casting.  I'm afraid I'll turn both nuts down to the shoulders on the rod and still have a gap (that's estimating by eye).

Are there spacers that should go between the engine casting and the frame, or is the frame designed to bend as the nuts are tightened on the rods?  

The original frame was tight up against the engine.

Yes, I believe there are supposed to be some spacers in there...

Number 10 on the long stud. They look a bit like cotton bobbins. There are two on each stud, one on either side.

Hmmmm! Interesting, I can see it fine.............the wonders of cyberspace!!

They should be readily available SH or easy enough to machine some up, I'd personally not make any from stacked washers though! They are 9mm thick (or at least the ones on the pic from my 90/6 project are and the Mono's look pretty well the same size), though I don't think it's critical, if they can be replaced with rubber blocks as per the infamous/famous vibration cure. Only knows though what the effect is doing without them altogether?!?!

Yeah, that's the ticket!    On your other hot-link I get a frame with a message that hot-linking is not allowed.  It most likely works on yours because the image is in your local cache, trying clearing your browser cache and see if it still works.

The set I have from an early 80's R65 (I snagged them off e-Bay on a pair of mount studs) are shaped slightly different, more like a big thick washer, but accomplish the same thing.  The wife's '84 had been fitted with the rubber ones when we got it and I will probably put the solid ones in as some things I have read indicate that the rubber ones might promote frame cracking.  If they cannot be had anywhere (I was only going by something I read on another web site) then if there was interest I could machine a pile of them if there was a need...

Came straight off the realoem site, never had that page open before. Properties of the frame show it linking directly, not to my C drive anywhere. Strange!!
