Well Bill, at least you finally got that out of the way. Everyone with a '78-'80 will go through this at some point.
Yeah, that is the primary ground connection for the wiring harness. You need a good solid spot.
I chose (can you believe I don't have a picture?) the corner of the bracket where all of the multi-pin connectors are held. I drilled a hole through the corner, sanded the paint off, and with a 10mm nut&bolt and some dielectric grease, I was back in business.
I used zip ties for the longest time to hold that coil in place. Finally last year I found hose clamps long enough to work. They came out of the plumbing dept. from large diameter couplers. Much more satisfactory for my bitchin' ride... [smiley=1drink.gif]
