Crankcase Breather R60/5 - hypothetical question

Guys
The crankcase breather pipe protrudes into the right hand air intake casing. This obviously obstructs the air flow to a greater or lesser extent. Is there any problem in shortening the pipe so that the end is flush with the side of the intake cover. My thought is that it would still work as there would be a venturi effect from the air going past it and would not restrict airflow to that cyclinder

By definition if it's causing less obstruction then the air velocity around it and hence the venturi effect would be a little less. My guess is it would still work though. I don't recall the twin breather tubes on mine protruding much past the casing if at all.

Anyway of testing this out without making an irreversible modification ?

IF it is flush/smooth with the outside of the tube, there will definitely be less venturi effect.   There is a 'boundary layer' effect in the tube, so air moving along the very outside of the tube is not moving nearly so fast as the air towards the center of the tube.   But, how much of an effect is actually needed - I have no idea, perhaps not much at all.
