good site for buying OEM parts?

i need to get new choke and accelerator cables. and a clutch cable. i looked on bike bandit and talked to there customer service and there system seems to out of whack with lengths and prices.
any and all help is very appreciated.

Motobins in the UK is an excellent source for your parts.  They will have everything you need and shipping is fast and reasonable.  There are a lot of suppliers for airhead parts.  The major cycle suppliers like the one you mentioned are OK for things like tires, clothing and the like, not so much for OEM stuff.

You can order from the US, if the parts are in stock, you'll usually have them in less than a week .

Motobins is a good supplier, especially considering that they are  an ocean away and still get stuff to us in North America in good time and for reasonable prices.
If in North American, try Bobs BMW in Maryland, or MAX BMW here in New Hampshire (ask for Rusty in parts - he is the airhead specialist).

Depends on what you've "normally" been paying for other, ie: UJM, bike cables. Did you check Motobins?

I've got receipts from my first throttle cable replacement in '94, prices for the cables then were $11-14US then, really haven't gone up much since then, with checking the A&S BMW website .

Do you really need choke cables, they rarely get used, as compared to the throttle cables ?

I've still got the originals on my '81 R65 and I've had the bike 31 years .

BTW, I've dealt with Bike Bandit for an OEM Triumph oil filter. Appears that "Bandit the Dog" obtains some parts from sources other than their own warehouse, marks 'em up a bit and sticks you.

For bike parts, I don't do the Bandit no mo'. [smiley=thumbdown.gif] Though the place is named properly.

I just accept the fact that nothing is cheap any more. The parts might cost a small fortune but at least we don't have to buy them too often. Max has been reliable for me. Most of the east coast places are within pennies of each other in pricing.

i was looking at motobins and with the throttle and choke cables theres a featherlight option what is that?

And why i need new cables is because my old ones are fraying and the throttle cables got kinked and the throttle wont return properly. the pivots are rusted together so they wont spin anymore.

I dunno about you Bob, but going from 11-14$ to $30+ isn't "much", it's "more than double".  

And since my clutch cable broke today, because of the lever, I need a new cable and lever... Anybody got any cheaper sources than 53 + tax for a lever and 33 + tax for the cable (courtesy of the local BMW dealer)?

Matt, There are several levers and perches on eBay right now. Search for "BMW R" in parts and accessories.

Those are too big for an R65, impressive though they may appear.   Be careful about what you buy on ebay - verify unless you are positive it is the thing you want!
Feel free to ask around here if you need a 2nd opinion.

Yes, technically, the R65/R45 models use a slightly smaller diameter headlight assembly than the R80/R100 - I don't have the exact measurement but it is between 6 - 7 inches, maybe 6.75??

And, what are you looking at headlights for when you need a clutch lever & cable?!?       LOL - I don't think that I'd buy anything from anyone with the handle of "super jerk" regardless of how desperate I might be!
