Not with the exhaust..it hits my sidestand, the part that pushes it down, so I may modify that a bit.but the bike sits up nicely now.

I Have a surefoot soon to be delivered ( bike leans like a sinking ship ).
Is it an easy fit?
Do I have to remove the exhaust to remove original stand?

Not on a 79.  Remove the springs and slide the pivot cover away until the pin drops out. It's an odd arrangement there are no bolt or screw fixings of any description involved until the 80 and later models.

Fitted my new surefoot (adjustable leg type).

A few comments -

Its a huge improvement.

Its huge.

It has a great big foot which deals well with all kinds on terrain.

I no longer walk away wondering if this is "The day".

I can fill the tank on the side stand :D

It sits between the exhaust and forward / rear foot pegs and you have to push it out from behind the forward peg.

You cant put the center stand down with the side stand retracted.

It needed a wee bit of tweaking to fit.

I had to bend down top of "C" section/frame aligner? at the front of the assembly to stop it fowling on the engine casing.
Not difficult to do but worth watching out for .

I also had to change the hex head stop screw to a round allen screw and remove the lock nut as both fowled on weld preventing necessary adjustment to stop the stand from hitting the muffler. I have an after market Staintune.

Again,its a huge improvement.

I got mine from Motobins in England.  With shipping it was a little over a hundred bucks.  I don't remember what the money exchange rate was.

Do it before the old one fails.  I have some nice dents and scratches on my R65 cafer racer tank as a result of such a failure.  It collapsed and fell against some bikes in the garage.

Monte! I'm back from the dead man lol. I've been good though. Still got the 65 and added a 89 K100RS to the collection. Picked that bad boy up for $700 with 75K on it :)

Got mine from Uk but from motorworks.

Link below should zap you straight to the stand page.

Worth just having a look at what they have in their new parts dept. seems they have everything and more.
