I am not sure if the RS frame has a welded on mount for the fairing up front (head stock)?  But otherwise it should be possible as long as you buy a complete fairing with all the mounts.

But, and this is a contentious bit, it is a big heavy fairing.  Remember the R65 has only 45 or 50 bhp when new and that was at the flywheel.

The R100RS had + 70bhp.

I am not a fan of big fairings on small bikes.  It will do nothing for the bike's performance.

But in the end, its your bike.

you'r right eSteve but i'm not a big guy (140lbs ) and often i ride 1200-1500 kilo and daily 500-600 kilo with the winds on, its hard
and here in Québec the weather are some time worst and cold.
In my oppinion the RS fairing are the better fairing of all time for the protection ,

We have at least one member here that has put a RS fairing on his R65.  Trolle is his name.  Look him up and send him a PM or e-mail.  I think he is quite happy with the result.

Check the front of your headstock, I believe some of the later ones came with the threaded holes for the frame bracket from the factory.  There were quite a few R65RT's made for police use in Europe.

When you install the fairing, there are two threaded holes at the front of the steering head that Rob Valdez mentioned .

Make sure you use correct length bolts, if they are too long, they will contact the steering stem inside and cause a binding in the steering .

I'll give up my R65, when they pry my cold dead hands from the handlebars !!!!!

Fairing wise I enjoyed my Pichler, and I think they're still available... at least I hope so because mine is beaten and broken now.  http://www.pichler.de/Pages/biketabe.htm

I imagine a stock BMW fairing is probably a little tougher, and probably mounts easier though.

HI Boubou.
Trolle and myself swapped many hints and tips on fitting  RS fairings to our R65s mostly on the thread entitled,        r100rs fairing.
Sorry but I don't know how to link directly to the thread, you'll find it easy with the search facility.

I'd say the RS fairing is great/ awesome for long journeys, which are mostly what I do. It's very much appreciated in bad weather.
BUT, it does reduce the nimble and 'sporty' feel of the naked R65. It does become a different bike. BUT, also a very rare bike.
Very best of luck with your project.

You need to check the headlight diameter.  For some reason I want to say that the RS headlight is about 1" larger than the R65.  I know I have an aftermarket S type fairing that came off of my R65 but won't fit on my R90.  But it could be the R65 and the R100 are the same diameter.

It's true, the R100 (and RS fairing) have a 7" headlight while the R65 takes a 6".

I just finish to read the the tread R 100 RS Fairing and i tink i have all the information for make a good job .
I see two problems : the brake hose and the handle bar , this winter i make a cluster for a vapor digital gauge and i don't have problems with the rpm and the speedo .
the two bikes that have the fairing are biautiful ( the blue and the black )

There should be no reason why your heads can't be rebuilt, unless there is some severe damage to them.

Where are you located?  You don't want just any mechanic working on the heads.  They should be very experienced with airheads.
