Anyone heard of these shocks: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/BMW-R45-R65-Classic-Shocks-/320736400836?pt=AU_Motorcycle_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4aad6115c4#ht_768wt_1139

Incredibly cheap. Almost a quarter of the price of any quote I've ever had. Wouldn't be too expensive a mistake to make, if it turned out that way.

They look like the same ones that have been on the UK ebay site for some time. Don't know anyone here who has tried them though.

Hagons are the best budget shocks that you will get good feedback on from forum members. Monte has fitted them and a few others.

I saw a low priced pair of new "BMW R65" shocks on the USA eBay site, much like these.

Interested in them. Contacted seller and asked where they were made, ie: country of origin. Never got a response after two attempts. YMMV but I would suggest asking the same question before buying. Suspect these are far east knockoffs of real shocks.

A well made pair of Hagons for my R65, with springs fitted for my weight and riding style, cost approx $200 USD. Bargain. With MC shocks, you generally get what you pay for. ;) Buy a known brand, if possible.

I have been really pleased with the shocks from Progressive. And I ride my bike like I stole it.

Well I decided to give the cheap ones a shot, despite your good advice. It's really all I can afford at the moment. Now I've just got to get them on.

I thought it would be the simplest of jobs, and I suppose it still is, but I wasn't expecting to have to take the exhaust mufflers off. Is there any way around this? To what extent do I need to dismantle them? Feel free to point out the obvious and please include all tips for the uninitiated.

Cheers.

Put the LH shock on top first.

Put the RH shock on bottom first.

Push the swing arm up and connect the other ends of each shock  I have a simple floor jack under the rear wheel while my sears motorcycle stand holds the bike in the air.

Thanks, but I can't remove the bolt at the bottom of the LH shock because of the exhaust, and I can't get RH shock off the bottom bolt because of the shock being in the way too.

I was hoping for some advice on easy way around this, or if not, the best way to remove the exhausts. But your advice about the order and method of replacing them is appreciated.
