Replacing foot pedal rubber

Getting ready to replace the foot rest rubber on both sides.  Are there any tricks to getting the old ones off (planned to use a razor and cut them off) and installing the new ones?

Thanks.

The only thing I have done is to turn the rubbers over to present an unworn side upwards and it was easy enough so putting new ones on shouldn't be too difficult. Perhaps best not to glue them so you can do the same in the future.

Some folks do like they do for handlebar grips, there are some who wet the metal bars with rubbing alcohol, which provides a bit of lubrication to get the rubber slid and and then quickly evaporates.   Some folks prefer more remaining "stickiness" and will spray old fashioned hair spray onto the metal and then slide the rubbers on.   Have to wait some hours for the hair spray to "set", however.   Any there are those who prefer to glue them on with rubber cement.

Thanks for the responses.  I tried one with some water mixed with Armor All.  It was a bit stiff going on and I couldn't get it over the metal ball at the end of the shaft that the rubber goes over.

I tried using a bit of wd-40 on the other and it went on much smoother, and more importantly, all of the way.  I would never recommend using wd-40 for handgrips, but it does seem to have worked for the rubber foot rests.  The rubber seems to be tight and doesn't move around...probably due to the squeegee effect they had going on the metal shaft...as the rubber went over the end ball, excess lubricant squirted out of the little hole on the outside end of the rubber!

Thanks again!

I think I would have used my can of spray silicone lubricant.  That is amazing stuff!
