Well, I gave it a try.
I was suspect about it working ever since my headers arrived because one end of the 'Lux pipe I had was not flared and I did a test fit in the living room and it looked like it had way too much slop. But I had it on good authority that this was an option, so today I tried to install my new pipes.
I cut the electrolux pipe down to size, and cut a compression gap in each end using my old OEM crossover as a guide.
I started tightening down the first T-Bolt clamp (the smallest available) and it was nearly down to minimum diameter and the pipe was still very loose.
I pulled the pipe off of the headers and I could see that the compression gap had closed up all the way with no discernible friction on the header.

Into the trash bin it went and I now have $20 worth of clamps in my spares box.

So off to Motobins I go to see what they have to offer.
Not only is their OEM pipe cheaper than any I have seen Stateside ($69 USD), but they also offer a pattern pipe for $37 USD! I have a pattern pipe on the way!
I decided to get my fasteners at the local hardware store...
I just wanted to let you all know since I've been advertising this "cheap alternative" for a few years now, but had never tried it myself, until now.
