Can anyone explain the green or white line at around 50km/hr mark ?

It should be reminder of the speed limit.I had a car 15 years ago when I lived in Eastern Europe with 2 lines like this. One for the speed limits in the city and one for the best speed for best fuel consumption

I don't have that line on my metric speedo, the urban speed limit in Australia was 60 kmh generally up untill recently.
Now urban streets are mostly 50 kmh with arterial routes 60 kmh.

I just noticed that my Hyundai Santa Fe has a red line as the 50 kmh mark.

Bob, my '79's original speedometer has this (green) line.  My bike was built for the German market and was later imported when the original owner emigrated to Canada.  The replacement speedo which was probably bought in Canada has no line on it.

Most city speed limits up here are 50 kph (approximately 30 mph).   I'm guessing it's the same in Europe.  The purpose of the line was probably to highlight where the speed limit is.
