I think the steel line would be ideal...it is a big pain to fuss with the air filter box. Has anyone heard of a method to pull the new fuel line through under the air box by somehow attaching it to the OLD fuel line that is being removed???
If you get a piece of hard plastic or metal rod that will fit tightly into both hoses, then lubricate the hose with dish washing detergent to help get it through the airbox area. If you do happen to remove the airbox from the bike, you could take a file and open up the cutout for the hose to make it easier next time. If you happen to end up with a gap between the hose and airbox, just use a dab of clear rubber sealer to seal the area.

Great idea....for lazy me that sounds like just the way to avoid removing the airbox. As Rob suggests it might be good to replace the fuel line every 2 years or so no matter what and this method would take the pain away. I avoid things if a lot of pain is involved. [smiley=steinigung.gif] I ended up with unbraided line this time from my mechanic guy..I sorta liked the braided look but it sure would be harder to pull through the tiny gap.

I have never worked on a bike with a square air box.  Are they that difficult to remove?  The clamshells are easy!

You have to remove intake tubes and get at the 3 bolts. Not realy a pain to do.

It sounds about the same as a clamshell box.

Geez I paid 2800 for a rat r65ls. No balancer on the planet will fix the dribbling gas from the carb. Floats, new ones and set at the right level will cure these ills.

I had a float bowl corroded and leak gas that made me think the float level  or float was the problem.
