Master Fuse
« on: August 17, 2025, 05:20:26 AM »
I've never had a problem with the wiring harness of my R65LS, so I have avoided modification of it on the basis of "if it aint broke don't fix it". I've noticed a number of people to have fitted master fuses or a fuse block and bayonet fuses, but have deferred consideration of same on the basis of not fixing a problem that I don't have.

However, a couple of my friends have recently had problems with melting/combusting electrics. Although I don't want to re-wire the bike I'm thinking that fitting a master fuse in the lead to the positive terminal of the battery would be a good idea, perhaps 25A.

Do other people do this? Is 25A the right size fuse?

The positive battery terminal usually has two cables, a 16mm2 to the starter solenoid to power the starter and a smaller 2.5mm2 cable that feeds everything else. You could fuse the 2.5mm cable at 25A which would be the correct size for that cable.
