Motor distance pieces

Motor distance pieces

There are 4 motor spacers, 3 of 6mm and 1 of 9mm.
I received the bike only with 3 of 6mm spacers. The 9 mm one was missing.

Where is the 9mm one installed?

Front left?

I can measure my 81 tonight, unless  you already solved it. Have you got centre stand with springs and swinging hooks? There are odd frame differences between years.

No I haven't solved it. I tried measuring the gaps and the result appears to be 9mm front left. But I would like to be sure.

It would be nice to know why BMW decided this way.

Like I said I'm missing a spacer. I tried to order them in the online store and discovered that there are 3 of 6mm and 1 of 9mm. In the meantime I had already removed all the spacers and I didn't think to mark them.

Hello,
May I chime in ?
You could go to RealOem and, with your VIN, check the P/N of the 4 pieces.
If one is different, you should see where it goes ?
It has been a long time since I removed the engine on my `82 R65, but I do not remember that spacers where different.

Hi, already done. I looked on RealOem, but doesn't specify the differences.
I'm waiting for an explanation from someone who has already changed them

Stores also sell them without indication

I need to clean my bike... I can't get access underneath properly at the moment either. The bike who must not be named on this website (Y@amaha Cru1ser) is having some electrical fettling behind her  :D

The rear two appear skinnier than the front two, front left possibly wider than front right. I have an RT fairing and conventional pipes, and don't think I can get a measurement properly.

The engine is a snug fit in the frame. If you've measured and the front left needs the wider spacer, I doubt you'd get those very long bolts in if it was in the wrong place. I think the sidestand design made the spacer different.

Better pic of front left attached.

I also think that the side stand could influence the choice of the wider spacer, what else?

I'm curious and was waiting for some "experts" to confirm
