1981 R65 driveshaft removal tool

Hi All
First day at school rebuilding a 1981 R65 and am looking for the dimensions needed to make the tool
To pull the shaft from the swinging arm so all bits can go for blasting
I know I need 2 x plates, 2 threaded bars and a few nuts but some dimensions please for all hole sizes and spacing etc for the studs

Hiya, looks a pretty simple tool. Getting the bevel drive off is 15 mins and about 5 bolts (7 with the axle and brake adjuster), which exposes the bit you want the dimensions-of. The long dimensions (with an short wheelbase R65) can be got with a tape measure.

thank you im not sure we are on the same page i need to remove the driveshaft circlip so i can remove the shaft from the swinging arm
has anyone made a tool and in so what are its dimensions ?

Unless there is a commercially available item you could join a BMW Club that has tools available for use (deposit required), like mine does or you will have to manufacture one yourself which is the option I believe you are taking. 

Also, this is the first time I have heard of someone wanting to send off the driveshaft for grit/sand blasting.  Unless you are only planning to do the external surfaces of the swingarm.

If the bike is in 1 bit, simply take the bevel drive and rear wheel out (extremely easy as described) and get your tape (or verniers) over the exposed driveshaft end. It's only one diameter you need, the ID to make a plate so you can compress the 'cushion' spring a couple mm to weedle the circlip out. It's like a CV joint circlip, except longer so it doesn't come out. Two diameters only necessary if you think it's going to slip. I'd just cable tie it if you do. It's not like a strut spring, they are really dangerous and I don't like working on them even with the right tools.

Two M8 or M10 threaded rods loger than the diveshaft, another flat plate and away you go. The tool above is RR quality if you need that.
