I completed the dreaded café racer custom restoration of a 1982 R65LS a couple of years ago now, which was a bit controversial during the process but I'm happy to say that the final product was soundly appreciated. Anyway, the result being that I have a range of parts available - some specific to the LS model and some generic R65 (and other models) parts. In appreciation of all the assistance I received from this forum during the process I thought I would offer them for sale here first.
I hope I have put reasonable prices on them, but all prices are in Australian dollars and are up for negotiation if there is a comparison somewhere that tells me I have it wrong. Smaller parts may be suitable for freighting overseas. Larger parts are obviously more difficult and more expensive, and I thought may be more suitable for sale within Australia, but hey, nothing’s impossible. I am located in Cairns in far north Queensland. Anyone in the US particularly may like to look at the exchange rate because there may still be some bargains even with freight included. FYI, our dollar is sitting around .68 US.

1. BMW R65LS fairing including mount, instrument cluster, blinkers, headlight bucket with rubber ring and all mounting hardware. Speedo and Tacho are also available separately NOTE: Scrape on left top side of fairing from driveway incident (don’t ask!) so not deep. Scrape on top of instrument surrounds. There is evidence of previous repairs inside the fairing (see photos). I assume some tabs are missing. No headlight or ignition switch included. $350
2. BMW R65LS speedometer. Working perfectly when removed from bike. $120
3. BMW R65LS tachometer. Working perfectly when removed from bike. $120
4. BMW R65LS tank. Henna Red. Inside in excellent condition (sealed while stored). Exterior has some bubbling of paint and a very minor scratch which would probably buff out (see photos). Wire bail with rubber mount intact underneath. Includes 2 rubber strips to mount to frame. NOTE: No fuel cap, no fuel tap but thread fine to install a new one. Same as R65 tank $250.
5. BMW R65LS seat and seat cowl/rear fairing. In excellent, unmarked condition. Includes all mounting hardware and seat lock (maybe I can source the key, not sure). $250 NOTE: Rear tool tray/glove storage compartment specific to LS also available separately.
6. BMW R65LS side covers. All intact. Roughly painted in satin black. Includes 6 mounting rubbers. $20 each. NOTE: These are copies, not original i.e. do not have open slots.
7. BMW R65LS Staintune sports mufflers. Excellent condition. Recoated with heat-proof powder coating in satin black. Same as original R65LS mufflers but much better note. $750
8. BMW R65LS exhaust crossover pipes. Both front and rear (short and longer). Will polish up fine. Both with fitting clamps intact. $30 the pair
9. BMW Pannier brackets. Chrome. In excellent, as new condition. $200. Will throw in a set of panniers that have seen better days if local sale.
10. BMW R65LS rear fender, guard. Excellent condition. Virtually unmarked. All mounting hardware. $75
11. BMW R65LS rear light assembly (tail/brake/indicators). Complete assembly. All plastics and lenses in excellent condition. Mounting hardware included. NOTE: Metal tubes to blinkers have some surface rust and will need repaint. R65 generic. $100
12. BMW R65LS handlebars. Includes top clamps and bolts. These are chrome and provide a higher grip position than original LS bars and therefore a kinder riding position. I have seen them called “American bars”. 22mm diam and 710 mm wide (about 28 inches). Condition fair, but not really seen if mounted with LS fairing. $40
13. BMW R65LS rear under seat cowl tool tray, glove storage compartment. Specific to LS models I believe. In excellent condition. $42
14. BMW R65LS front under seat tool tray, glove storage compartment. In excellent condition. $35
15. BMW R65LS battery box. Excellent condition. All mounts, bolts, rubber Bushes intact. All R65 and other models. $40
16. BMW R65LS front brake twin disc distribution piece, T-piece, brake line splitter. Complete. $40
17. BMW R65LS rider left and right footpegs. Includes mounting bolts. No rubbers. $30
18. BMW R65LS pillion left and right footpegs. Complete with (used) rubbers. $30
19. BMW R65LS rear brake lever/pedal. $40
20. BMW R65LS gear change shifter and linkage. Will need new rubber sleeve for toe piece and rubber boot for linkage. $60
21. BMW R65LS mirrors x 2. All plastic and glass in excellent condition. Metal stems have some surface rust and will need repaint. $35
